DWELL is an open source Framework created by Dear Wise Earth. Though still in its early stage, it is being adopted by visionary place-makers, educators and creators of all sorts with the purpose to explore whole systems integrity, and the application of regenerative principles under a common language and structure that facilitates agile sharing and fluidity of resources and findings.
Use the DWELL Framework to foster locally-attuned solutions while cultivating reconnection between people and nature.
“You never change something by fighting the existing reality, to change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
We suggest approaching the design process using the “Dear Wise Earth 5 Step Loop”, that aims to provide projects with the necessary steps for creating socio-environmentally attuned communities. A simple approach yet thoughtfully aimed for creating Labs that wish to repurpose by design our lifestyles and aim to contribute to the collective effort to regenerate outdated social, economic, environmental, cultural and spiritual systems.
In order to plant a Living Lab a Deep understanding of the purpose of doing so is required. It is not as much as asking one-self the right questions, as it is about creating the conditions for open questioning to happen around and within us. Clarity is our best tool towards a flowing decision making process.
Understanding what allows clarity in governance to prevail is the very first step as we intentionally move towards the vision.
Misalignment arises from having a tendency to participate in systems that rewards ‘profit as the purpose’ rather than creating ‘profit for a purpose’. The business|spiritual alignment step must provide exploratory quests into our deepest purpose along with assessment and measurement tools to provide us with the ease and clarity needed to stay rooted along the path of elevating planetary needs while driving economic profits. Thus allowing greater conditions for cash to flow in a healthy manner.
Year-round offerings of festival style events, workshops, entertainment, and other events that express and embody the individual and collective transitions, rooted in scalable nature-based solutions. Design your cultural programming to weave all the Labs together and programs may include series of conversational summits, art, and participatory laboratories in collaboration with other DWELL users in a diversity of projects. Design thinking of creating information to flow in a natural and seeming-less way.
By open-sourcing their knowledge through the use of the DWELL DAO, all community members
participate in exponential knowledge growth in
an ever increasing collaboration network across
global living labs, empowering other communities on the path to regeneration of local
economic resilience, environmental stewardship
and successful social and cultural dynamics.
Therefore collaboratively reaching the vision of decentralized hubs that serve the regeneration of the planet through our diversified redefinition of human’s way of living.
Applied hard skills such as carpentry, metal work, hand-spun textile and stonework are in many places crafts and labours of the past, as they’ve been outsourced to cheaper horizons. And for too long BioGeometry has been ignored. At the Makers Lab we have the opportunity to reintroduce those crafts by putting together designers, creators and real problems in need to be solved in the bioregion.
